January Roll Call begins the 1st.  We hope everyone had a very safe and happy New Year!  Don't forget to check in with either Shirley Cullum or Elaine Martin to let us know you are still willing to be a TXGenWeb member!

  March brings the discussion of moving off the RootsWeb server and finding a hosting service we would consider using.  The TXGenWeb staff suggested Active Web Hosting as it was the one service we knew to be reliable.  Discussion of the cost arose.  The SC Shirley Cullum polled the membership on making the move or not.  Only 5 no's came in on the poll so it was decided to go ahead with the move from RootsWeb's server to the AWH server at a cost of $96 a year.  It was discussed that CC's could send in $5-10 to help with the cost.   The files were officially moved on March 10, 2008.  The new domain name is txgenweb.org and the new county URL's would be txgenweb.com/countyname.

  April roll call is cancelled.  During all the discussion of moving to a new server, the CC's communications servered as roll call.  The next roll call will be July 1-31.

  May rolls around and most of the server moves have been made.  121 counties have either moved to the new server, or requested space to move.  Last count we heard was that all but 9 of the states had acquired their own server and made the move off of the RootsWeb servers.

  July brings around roll call.  Don't forget to check in with either Bettie Wood or Elaine Martin to let us know you are still willing to be a TXGenWeb member!

September brought us Hurricane Ike.  We think we have heard from all but 1 CC, so we are hoping that everyone is safe.  Since some still have no power, the October Roll Call has been canceled.  Next scheduled Roll Call will be Jan. 1, 2009.  Our attempt at having our 2 year SC election was canceled due to Ike.  As soon as everyone has power back and is back online for nominations and voting, it will resume.

November is here and everyone seems to have their power back and are able to communicate with us once again.  Since there was only one nomination for SC, the election went quickly & smoothly.  Shirley Cullum was declared to be our SC once again.  We have high hopes of another smooth, quiet year in TXGenWeb.
