Texas State Genealogical Society
TSGS has changed it web site awards to include 2 new categories. There is now a category for Individuals with a web site on their family genealogy and a category for an Individual with web site of general nature like a GenWeb site or DNA Study. Cash prizes will be awarded to top 3 winners in each category. You do have to be a TSGS member with our TSGS logo and link to our web site. Awards will be presented at Tyler at the TSGS conference banquet on November 9th.

Hispanic Organization of Genealogy and Research (HOGAR de Dallas)
was founded in 1997. We meet every third Tuesday of the months of September, November, January, March and May at 6:30 P.M. in Casa View Library on the corner of Joaquin and Ferguson in Dallas.

The organization has compiled into annual Journals the studies, research, stories, and lineages of not only our members, but others that have contributed to the Journals for the past ten years.

The Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin, founded over 30 years ago as the Sociedad Genealogical de Austin, has established a policy of promoting authors who write about Tejano history. In this endeavor, we are happy to invite the public to our first event featuring Dr. Jerry Thompson who will speak about, sell, and sign copies of his book--- CORTINA, DEFENDING THE MEXICAN NAME IN TEXAS.

Details: March 28, Nuevo Leon Restaurant , 1501 E. 6 th St.

Luncheon (Buffet) 11:30 AM –12:30

Speaker & Book signing 12:30 – 3:00

Buffet meal is $13.50 (tax & tip not included) per person.

 The Tejano Declaration of Independence.  On April 6th, 1813, in front of the Spanish Governors Palace in San Antonio, Jose Bernardo Gutierrez de Lara Uribe presented Texas with its first written Declaration of Independence, which proclaimed Texas to be free and independent of Spanish rule. This was after a year of bloody warfare and driving all Spaniards out of Texas. -

--- 2:00 in front of the Governors Palace with the following noted speakers: Dr. Alberto Hinojosa, author Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, and Rosa Rosales from the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). Emcee will be radio personality Monclovio Perez

Angelina College Genealogy Conference - July 16-17-18th, 2009 -Mark your calendar for the 13th annual Angelina College Genealogy Conference in Lufkin, Texas.

Plan to register ASAP as we have several new items on the schedule. Early registration is stronglysuggested -- Your don't want to be left out.  Read the registration form carefully - watch the variousdeadline dates. 

Several new speakers - new topics - new vendors.  

Two optional all-day Thursday sessions.  The regular conference on Friday & Saturday.  ** with a choice of three all day Saturday sessions that can be substituted for the 'regular' Friday schedule at no extra cost.**  Two Saturday programs (DNA & Cemeteries) may be registered as a "Saturday only" selection.

BRAZORIA County Historical Museum
Cemetery Committee meets once a month at the museum in Angleton, Texas.  For meeting dates please contact Jamie Murray at BCHM.ORG.


McLennan County Cemetery Interest Group meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Waco-McLennan County Public Library, 1717 Austin Ave., Waco.  Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.
