Grave in the Road: Mrs. I Williams was traveling through
the area when she became fatally ill. She was buried by the side of the road but
later the road was widened, leaving the grave in the center. During the
1930's the county commissioner had a concrete tomb placed over the grave to
preserve it. |

The land for this cemetery was deeded to the Christian Church of Wayland (defunct) in 1889. The cemetery is located on land purchased by Dr. Benjamin Winchester Lauderdale in 1892 and remains in this family today. The Lauderdale descendants and neighbors continue to be buried here, albeit only a few. The cemetery is located on private land , SE of Bald Mountain about 1500 feet off the county road. The road leading to the cemetery is seldom used and may not be visible. There are approximately 15 graves |

Located on private property and was bulldozed in 1960. An

vanished community |
32.69043 |
Union Hill, now vanished, was first settled ca 1893. The
community population burgeoned with the discovery of oil in 1918. By 1920 the
Magnolia Oil Company finished a gasoline refinery and the town had three
general merchandise stores.. The oil boom waned, stores closed and by the
1930's the remaining residents turned to ranching and farming |
