Handbook for TXGenWeb

Position: Webmaster

This is a duty of the State Coordinator that can be managed by a staff member. The webmaster for TXGenWeb will have complete control over both the websites but must keep in mind that other volunteers manage some of the pages. A working knowledge of HTML, CSS, SSI and cPanel is necessary.

There are many responsibilities in addition to maintaining the website and the Webmaster must be familiar with them.

(Outline Only)

  1. Acquire Space for A Website When Necessary
    - Stay informed of any imminent changes to our webhosting.
  2. Pay Rents in A Timely Manner
    - There is no financial obligation implied.
    - We need time to gather donations for payments so inform the SC ahead of time when funds are needed.
    - We have THREE domains and TWO web spaces.
    - Never allow TXGenWeb to be offline because of non-payment.
  3. Understand How to Use the Control Panel
    - Every domain has a cPanel for creating and maintaining the "inside" functions of the websites.
    - Passwords and payments are tracked through the cPanel.
    - Keep both websites backed up.
  4. Update the Site
    - The state site should be browsed periodically with a link checker.
    - County links and the names of County Coordinators must be kept current.
