- HOLMES,
MCCASKILL posted by
Martha Little on Saturday,
March 1, 1997
- Looking for
this family who may have come to TX in late 1870s from PA. Elizabeth
HOLMES (b@1840) was widowed in 1875 in Pittsburgh PA. She was the
second wife of Norval HOLMES. Their surviving children were Nettie
b@1858, Norval Jr b@1863, and Sarah b@1865. There is a James R MCCASKILL
(1886-1906) buried in the HOLMES family plot in PA. His death certificate
states that he was born in TX. His parents are listed as John MCCASKILL
born Pittsburgh and Sadie HOLMES born Allegheny. This Sadie is most
likely Sarah, dau of Elizabeth and Norval. It may be possible that
Elizabeth remarried and moved to TX with the children. I can not
locate any of them in the 1880 or 1900 PA census. Would like to
know what became of Elizabeth and her children. Martha Little P

Jr. They immigrated to Texas in 1845 and lived in Frelsburg, Colorado
Co., through the 1880 census. They are not found on the 1900 census.
Legend goes Reinhardt is the son of Renke and Margaretha (BRUNS)
STOELTJE and that Reinhardt and Hellina lived in Blumenthal, Colorado
Co. Both Reinhardt and Hellina were born in 1811 and he died before
his mother in 1892 and she died in 1896. None of these dates have
been proven! They had the following children; Anna FEHRENKAMP, Lizzie
MEHRENS, Margaretha STEINMETZ, Helena SCHNEIDER who in 1893 moved
her family to Bauersville, Lavaca Co., and George STOELTJE who never
married and lived with his brother-in-law, Herman MEHRENS, in Wharton

Adams about 1818, when the two were indentured servants for Illinois
Territorial Gov. Ninian EDWARDS. Later in 1825, Edwards sold their

allowed the Adamses' two young children, Nelson and Ellen to go
