Managing TXGenWeb's Shared Funds
The Treasurer helps manage donations contributed by TXGenWeb County Coordinators for shared project expenses.
Why This Position Exists
The Treasurer position was created in 2018 when TXGenWeb needed a shared hosting account for county sites that were temporarily offline.
Rather than having many coordinators purchase separate hosting accounts, volunteers contributed toward a common solution. Management of the hosting account itself is now the responsibility of the State Coordinator.
Main Responsibility
The Treasurer maintains the PayPal account used to hold donations from TXGenWeb County Coordinators and keeps those funds available for approved project expenses.
Donations Are Voluntary
TXGenWeb does not require fees from County Coordinators and does not solicit donations from visitors.
Contributions from coordinators are voluntary. The project simply keeps an easy-to-find donation link available for volunteers who choose to help support shared expenses.
